Unintended consequences?

Works in scarcity?
In resource-scarce settings (rural schools, low budgets), STEAM may struggle without low-cost materials, reliable electricity, or trained facilitators, risking superficial implementation.
Works in abundance?
In well-funded urban/private schools, abundance could enable rich STEAM ecosystems, but risks becoming a status marker rather than equitable skill-building for all students.
Works when machines do most productive labour?
If automation reduces demand for routine technical labor, STEAM's value may shift toward creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary problem-solving rather than vocational skill acquisition alone.

India's Atal Tinkering Labs and Atal Innovation Mission (since 2016) offer a testable precedent for scaling STEAM infrastructure, revealing both successes in urban hubs and persistent rural implementation gaps.
